June is Immigrant Heritage Month across America. You know that here in the Berkshires our immigrant community is a vital part of our economic and cultural strength. Foreign-born residents are business owners, farm and healthcare workers, chefs and landscapers, and help the local tourism industry thrive. They are our teachers and students, our friends and neighbors.
The Berkshire Immigrant Center (BIC) – the only program in Berkshire County that focuses exclusively on meeting the unique challenges of immigrants and refugees – is celebrating our 20th year. The need for our services has grown vastly since 1997. Now we are asking for your help so BIC can keep pace with meeting the needs of more than 800 people each year.
We are launching our “Twenty for Twenty” Campaign to raise $20,000 between June 1st and the 4th of July. Can you help by donating to honor Immigrant Heritage Month and BIC’s 20 years of service?
Your donation of any amount helps BIC immensely.
For your contribution of $100, we can offer immigration law consultations to four people. Your donation of $500 helps three local residents become US citizens. If you can give $1,000, we can provide a free sixteen-week English and civics class to seven people preparing for their citizenship exams.
Why do we need your help now? Because we have more immigrants in the Berkshires, which means that BIC is busier. We’ve outgrown our small office space and our bare-bones budget. Your donation will help us grow, and help us keep the Berkshires strong at a time when immigrants here especially need our help.
Can you join our campaign? You may make a pledge by writing to email@example.com, and we’ll send you a reminder in July. Or you can donate now using the “Donate” button to the right of this page. Want to make a monthly donation of $10? You’ll spread your help throughout the year!
